This RPG is in Beta test stage and I am seeking play testers. Any text you see in blue has not yet been written into the rules. Those are templates. Text in Black are finished and in many cases not completely finished. Remember this has been my work for over 20 years and I am still working on it. I will be going on social media soon and trying some platforms to get it our there and eventually sell it but for now you can download the sections for free but they are not for re sale. This RPG has been my project for many, many years and I have had fun writing it but now I believe I am ready to unveil it. Please join my team of play testers. b
The year was 2076 on Earth. The United World Nations military kept relative peace on a global scale while still keeping up with highly competitive space exploration. “The Race for Space” as it was known then, was being won by big businesses and corporations with large capital and even larger interests in mineral resources. ‘Corps’ like INTECH and MacDonalds lead the pack in squatters rights to the majority of celestial bodies nearest the Earth, while more ambitious companies such as Mobildyne Fuels and Serologics were making greater headway in the fields of research and development, “R&D”. There was big money to be made in many ways throughout the entire space industry and the farther from their home world Earthlings explored and built stations, the further they had to keep looking ahead and beyond.
The most distant colony from planet Earth was known as ‘New France’ and was quickly becoming a “boom town” because of the recent life scan readings conducted there. Finding a planet that sustained life was advantageous, but to be the first company to discover intelligent life would mean ultimate popularity and profit for the lucky Corp. Traders, miners, merchants and various Company Men made a stop in New France between ‘T jumps’ to refuel, get news, hire workers or just get some “R&R” at the infamous Doghouse Bar. Here, rumors, tall tales, unsubstantiated eye-witness accounts and debates continued about the existence of UFOs and aliens. And while SETI kept searching, and scientists kept speculating, it was becoming evident that the only extraterrestrials they would find would be the humans born on long journeys into the new frontier.
It was during the “Black Hole Rush” of 2078 that an elite branch of law enforcement was created and trained by U.N.I.T.E. These hand chosen Terrans became known as Tech Rangers and are now the highest form of law and order on Tarrath, even above that of sheriffs and town marshals. Their greatest task is to ensure that technology is kept to its legal level and offenders be dealt with appropriately. They are the eyes and ears as well as the long arm of U.N.I.T.E. reporting back to a secret agent every two months who in turn returns messages back and forth through the black hole, a process that at best now takes six months to complete. The job of the Tech Ranger is not an easy one. Despite the Space Troopers outside the ‘gate’ and U.N.I.T.E. intelligence in Techarcana, cunning corporations with a good bribe have been known to get past enforcers as have well motivated ‘runners’ with a lot of guts and speed at the helm. Some companies have embedded themselves on the “other side” and ingenious Gren from Gerroch with new technologies have found ways to peregrinate space to the New World. There are also other alien races to contend with and a pre-existing ancient technology on the planetthat falls into the wrong hands now and then. A good Tech Ranger has tobe able to spot a Company Man, save lives and question the disposition of everyone he meets.

When one or more characters enter into a situation which will involve fighting or when the FM decides there is a need for detailed time keeping, the game moves into ‘combat mode’. These instances may be a planned encounter by the FM or an impromptu decision from a player. In all cases the FM should have a calculator and a scratch pad of paper or something to keep track of combat results.
“If one wishes to know the power of spells, one needs only look at the world around us. Everything the Great Serpent created, is the result of just one, magnificent, everlasting spell."

The Basics: There are numerous ways upon which reality and the laws of physics can be affected by supernatural forces. Certain individuals can learn how to focus the forces of nature, internal or external energies, spirits or deities to obtain what we call magikal results. Depending on how these feats are performed many different titles have been given to these highly revered individuals. Wizards, sorcerers, enchantresses, conjurers, shamans, witch doctors, rhammas, vickers, priests, preachers, clerics, prophets, necromancers, technomancers, witches, warlocks, psionicists, thought masters, druids, and monks are just a few of the names given to the gifted few. For purposes of this section however, we will call them all Casters
Strange Frontiers Second Edition is a revision of the first game published in 1999 by myself. The original rules took 15 years to write and put on paper. These new rules and revisions have taken another 20 years to complete. Included in this book are all the contents of the original game with many changes and additions. The first edition is not necessary to play this game and could be considered a collector’s item at best. My special thanks to all those fans of the first game and my hopes that they and you will enjoy these new and improved rules even more. Have fun!

I would like to thank the following people for their efforts, patience and years of coming over every Tuesday night to play the game. These are my gamers, my friends and most of all, my comrades in space. As we adventured through this universe that we created, we laughed, we learned and we shared a bond unlike any other. To them I dedicate my life’s journey and hold them in the highest regard of my life’s treasures.
